Change can be hard, no matter how much you want it to work. Sometimes it’s easier just to keep on doing the same thing, even though it may not be the best thing for yourself or for your community.
We want to help people become Better. So when you to start doing something new, such as cycling to work or walking to the shops, we'll reward you for it with BetterPoints, our very own currency. It's a little helping hand to help you see the extra perks that come with positive change, be it in your health, your wellbeing, your wallet or your impact on the environment.
BetterPoints are backed by real money, which you can spend on vouchers for high street shops or donate to your favourite charity. The more you earn, the more you can spend.
BetterPoints are available through programmes sponsored by partners such as councils and public health bodies. For example, imagine your local council wants to encourage people to car-share for their daily commute.
So, they decide to run a programme for six months, in which they reward BetterPoints to people who work locally. That programme would then appear in the BetterPoints app and anyone who was eligible would be able to join it and earn the available BetterPoints by tracking their car-sharing journeys.
And it's not just helping you, it's helping the wider community too. The anonymised, aggregated data from everyone's activity gives the programme provider (in this example, your local council) valuable evidence that can help them make better decisions and improve services.
To start earning BetterPoints, simply download the app from the App Store or Google Play, register and choose a programme to join. In fact, you can join as many as you like; all the programmes you see in the app are ones you're eligible for.
If you don't see more than it just means there aren't any available for you right now; but don't worry, more programmes are starting up all the time.
